Writing about your Work

The focus of the workshop is will include practical advice on writing an artist's statement. It is primarily geared towards visual artists and crafts-people, but is open to any with an interest in writing about art and craft. Participants are asked to bring a draft statement of not longer than 500 words. Non-makers should bring a short piece about the work of an artist of their choosing. Dr Eleanor Flegg’s work has been widely published and includes a design column for the Sunday Times (2005-2009) and a craft and design column for the Irish Arts Review (since 2002).
Documenting your Work

In this hands-on workshop participants will learn to effectively document their artwork. Topics to be covered include camera and lens selection, lighting, camera support, colour reproduction, white balance challenges, and computer editing for print and digital presentation. It is recommended that all participants bring their own digital camera if they own one. For those who do not yet own a camera, different solutions at various price points will be discussed.
