All welcome to attend.
Since its inception in 1990, the annual Lions Club exhibition has encapsulated the ethos of the organization and promoted the values of community development and support. The annual exhibition, aimed particularly at aspiring artists, will include paintings, mixed media and sculptural works from artists throughout County Wexford.
For the 2010 exhibition, artists were asked to respond to the theme Here Comes Spring, with a view to considering the regeneration of ideas and supports that will overcome the current economic downturn, and the inevitable social and personal difficulties that this brings. Spring usually connotes themes of rebirth and, of course, life in all its forms. Artists were encouraged to interpret the theme in the broadest sense.
The annual Lions Club exhibition celebrates and offers a creative opportunity for artists who are at different stages of their careers to produce work within a gallery context, and, for this reason, is an important show within the Wexford Arts Centre's programme. This year, the exhibition extended its opportunities to artists by requesting the submission of sculptural work in addition to painting and mixed media works. The variety of sculptures submitted reflects the wide range of materials, processes and techniques that are employed by artists in the creation of their work.
Here Comes Spring will be on view in the lower and upper galleries of Wexford Arts Centre until Saturday 10th April. Galleries are open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am to 5.30pm.
Wexford Arts Centre & Wexford Lions Club acknowledges the generous support of Spectrum Art Supply Shop.
