Cathy Davey platinum-selling Irish singer–songwriter and previous Meteor Award winner for Best Irish Female Returns to Wexford Arts Centre for what's sure to be another stellar performance.
We welcome back Cathy after her sell out concert last year. A spikier alternative to many of the female singer-songwriters in the UK and Irland at present, Cathy earned her indie credentials working with Elbow and touring with Graham Coxon. Her debut album Something Ilk showed her as one of Europe's rising music talents. Cathy has spent her time out of the touring circuit writing and recording in France and Donegal. Her forthcoming album "The Nameless" was conceived in the rented house in a tiny French town that belonged to a vivacious lady who left photographs of her departed partner taken after his untimely death around the house. As a result the songs Cathy produced in that house were tainted with both an eerie sorrow and a celebration of life. Written mostly on mandolin and drums Cathy's new material sounds like old world laments having the living daylights beaten out of them. Last Year Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy guest appeared on stage with her excellent band..rumour has it he may appear again. Don’t miss out!
