Wexford Arts Centre in partnership with Wexford School of Art and Design (IT Carlow) are delighted to once again host the annual exhibition of graduating students work in a dynamic new exhibition entitled Collective Juncture.
Defined as an instance of joining or a point in time made critical by a concurrence of circumstances; juncture is an apt word to describe the creative point at which this collective of fine art graduates find themselves. Here, as four years of disparate investigations culminate and manifest in one aesthetic realisation, these students are at that transitional point in time when their life as students comes to a close and their careers as artists begin.
Since 2010, the Arts Centre has played host to the work of the B.A. Honours Fine Art Graduates from the Wexford School of Art, continuing its role supporting emerging contemporary artists within the community. An annual highlight of the arts calendar for the south east, the exhibition celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating students and showcases the diverse range of work produced across the Campus’ undergraduate fine art programmes. BA students will present this unique display of interdisciplinary work, reflecting individual creativity, a four-year learning process and the Wexford Campus School of Art experience, through one cohesive show in the Arts Centre.
Graduate shows are invariably challenging, dynamic and fresh and Collective Juncture promises to be no exception. From such widely varied subject matter as geometric expressions of emotion to neglected domestic spaces, to the void between science and the everyday world, to poignant themes of loss and emigration and interpretations of regional social narratives and landscapes, this collective brings together a myriad of artistic investigation. Through drawing, painting, digital media, construction and installation the graduating student class of 2013 present this in depth research through a vivacious exhibition that will underpin their professional development over the coming years.
Featuring work by Ruth Berry, Jane Brown, Martin Crosbie, Jacqui Devereux, Annie Gebauer, Anne Marie Gerardi, Nicola Giltrap, Catherine Healy, Collette Murphy, Teresa O’Leary, Susanne Seedig, and Louise Treacy, Collective Juncture opens on Thursday 24th May at 6pm and all are welcome to attend.
The exhibition will run in Wexford Arts Centre from Friday 24th May to Saturday 8th June 2013. For further information on the exhibition please contact Catherine Bowe, Visual Arts Manager on +353 (0)53 9123764 or email catherine@wexfordartscentre.ie.
