Living Arts Project 2014/15 - Internship Strand
Wexford Arts Centre seeks expressions of interest from artists for a new internship strand of the Living Arts Project.
The Arts Department of Wexford County Council in
partnership with Wexford Arts Centre and the Arts Council are delighted
to announce a new internship strand within its pioneering visual arts
education programme.
Established in 2013, the Living Arts Project is a long term visual arts educational scheme which consolidates the existing partnership between the Arts Department of Wexford County Council and Wexford Arts Centre. The objective of the project; to make engagement with and understanding of the fundamentals of contemporary visual art even more attainable for local audiences, was clearly achieved in the inaugural year. The resounding success of the partnerships between artists and schools was evident in the high standard of work created and exhibited, and in the highly positive feedback recorded from all involved.
In order to further develop and improve the artist in residence scheme and offer additional opportunities for meaningful artistic exchange and collaboration, the 2014-15 project will see the launch of a new internship strand which will coincide with each residency.
A total of four internships are available and a fee of €450.00 will be paid to each intern to cover travel costs. The successful applicants must be flexible in terms of contact hours and will be required to work at least four hours per week for fifteen weeks - dates and times to be confirmed.
The aim of the internships are to provide a valuable opportunity for selected interns to develop their own practice and hone workshop facilitation skills, while in a broader sense becoming integral participants in the timely development of visual arts education programmes and policies.
Wexford Arts Centre is now receiving applications from artists interested in participating. To apply please send a letter of application with a curriculum vitae to catherine@wexfordartscentre.ie by 5pm Tuesday 9th September 2014.
