Raven Theatre present two one-act plays The Harmfulness of Tobacco by Anton Chekhov features Andy Lehane and is directed by Jackie Whelan. A henpecked school master is forced by his domineering wife to lecture at a Women’s Institute meeting on the evils of smoking, but instead finds himself looking back on his failed life. Waiting for Elvis by Eileen Gibbons features Denise Leahy and Mary O Connor, and is directed by Áine Gannon. Elizabeth, newly moved to the area, meets Margaret, aka Lisa Marie, in their local park. An unlikely friendship develops over time as the pair wait for Elvis. Raven Theatre are delighted to be joined by Deirdre McGarry on this occasion, and Deirdre will delight the audience with her readings and poetry.
