Shane Daniel Byrne

Shane Daniel Byrne is a writer, actor, MC and award winning stand-up comedian. In 2023 he staged his début comedy hour ‘But He’s Gay’. The show sold out in both Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals with added extra shows due to demand. After his first National Tour in 2024 including 2 nights in Vicar Street, he had a hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe with his new show “Trouble Denim”, and is currently on his second national tour of Ireland. Week to week you’ll find him headlining the biggest big comedy clubs around Ireland. He’s previously been tour support for Tony Cantwell, Emma Doran, Vittorio Angelone, Kiri Pritchard-McClean & David O’ Doherty. He has taken the stage at major festivals including The Cat Laughs (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), Vodafone Comedy Festival (2019), Paddy Power Comedy Festival (2022, 2023), Body & Soul, Otherside, Electric Picnic and Love Sensation. He has performed across the island of Ireland, the UK and as far away as the Middle East He was a surprise guest on LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland on Prime Video (Amazon Prime). For RTÉ, he hosted Love Bites in 2022 and Queer History School in 2021. In 2020 he appeared on Reeling in The Fears in a sketch he wrote with Joanne McNally. For Virgin Media, he is a regular guest on The Six O’ Clock Show and a contributor on Ireland AM. His Podcast “Young Hot Guys” alongside Killian Sundermann and Tony Cantwell Boasts thousands of weekly listeners and they are performing a live show at Leicester Square Theatre in May 2025 after two sold out nights at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. Shane hosted the Dublin Pride Stage at Mother Pride Block Party; co-hosted the Irish Times Theatre Awards 2022 with actress Eileen Walsh; Lockdown Lols for GCN Magazine and The Pride Takeover on DubX Radio. In the past he hosted events for Yelp.ie, Nine Crows, Dublin Youth Theatre, Bulmers Light and West Coast Cooler.
