Released in 1984, The NeverEnding Story remains one of the most magical and unforgettable fantasy adventures ever put on screen. The film follows young Bastian, a lonely boy who discovers a mysterious book that transports him into the enchanted world of Fantasia — a land threatened by the terrifying force known only as “The Nothing.” Alongside the brave warrior Atreyu, the legendary luck dragon Falkor, and a host of unforgettable creatures, Bastian discovers that imagination itself may hold the power to save an entire world. Whether you grew up with the film or are discovering it for the very first time, audiences can expect an evening packed with adventure, nostalgia, giant flying dragons, heart-breaking swamp scenes, and one of the catchiest theme songs of the 1980s. Fun Facts About the NeverEnding Story The film was the most expensive movie ever made in Germany at the time of its release. Falkor the Luck Dragon was an enormous practical puppet so large that several people were needed to operate him. The movie was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen, who would later direct blockbusters including Das Boot, Air Force One and The Perfect Storm. The iconic synth-pop title song performed by Limahl became an international hit and enjoyed a huge revival thanks to Stranger Things.
