Lost Toys

A solo exhibition of photographic works

8 November 2024 – 9 January 2025
D’Lush Café, Wexford Arts Centre
Run in association with Wexford Camera Club

Wexford Arts Centre and D’lush Café are delighted to present a solo exhibition of work by photographer Donna Kehoe. The exhibition titled Lost Toys will run in D’lush Cafe from Friday 8th November 2024 to Thursday 9th January 2025.

Christmas is coming and children everywhere are excitedly writing to Santa asking for that one special toy.  But spare a thought for the toys of Christmas past, the lost toys, the no-longer-loved toys.

These toys were all wanted once, played with or cuddled.  Now they are all alone and far from home.  Some will be missed by their children while others will go unnoticed and still others will have just been discarded when they were no longer wanted.  Chucked away!

Do you recognise any of these toys?  Perhaps, you lost a toy just like one of these.  Do you miss it and wonder where it is now?

I always feel a little sad when I come across lost toys like these and wonder how they feel about being abandoned.

This exhibition shows just a few of the brightly coloured toys I have stumbled across that were lost by children.  They appear jolly but really they are polluting our natural environment.  I feel I am doing something to help by collecting discarded rubbish on the beaches near where I live in Duncormick.  I photograph what I find and think about the small personal tragedies alongside the serious damage to our environment.

Lost Toys will run in D’lush Cafe at Wexford Arts Centre until Thursday 9th January 2025. For further information on Wexford Camera Club, please click here.
