OPEN CALL: Westgate Visual Art Studios — Expressions of Interest

Location: Westgate Visual Art Studios, Selskar, Wexford Town, Y35 X2DK
The Arts Office, Wexford County Council, in association with Wexford Arts Centre, invites visual artists based in Wexford to submit Expressions of Interest for subsidised studio rental opportunities at the newly developed Westgate Visual Art Studios.
A studio space (11 ft x 14.7 ft) is currently available for rent at €275 per month.
This professional studio provides an ideal environment for artists to develop their practice within a vibrant and supportive creative community.
Studio Features and Facilities
- Windows and two doors providing natural light and accessibility
- Shared reception area, kitchen, and accessible toilet facilities
- Rent includes all utilities: heat, light, Wi-Fi, and bin costs
- Free on-site parking for tenants
- Secure 24-hour access to the studio and building
Rental Terms
- Minimum Lease: 1 year, extendable up to 3 years (subject to annual review)
- Lease Period: 12 December 2025 – 12 December 2026
- Rent Payment: Monthly in advance by direct debit to Wexford Arts Centre
- Studio Use: Artists are expected to work from their studio at least five days per week
- Cleanliness: Tenants must maintain a clean workspace and dispose of rubbish weekly in designated areas
- Insurance:
- Artists must hold Public Liability Insurance (minimum €6.5 million per incident), indemnifying both Wexford County Council and Wexford Arts Centre.
- Proof of insurance is required prior to signing the lease.
- Group Proposals: Considered, but one individual must be nominated as the group’s representative for rental payments and correspondence.

Applications should include:
- Cover Letter – Outline how you intend to utilise the unit (e.g., commission, exhibition, open studio preparation).
- Current CV – Max 3 pages (include CVs for all members in a group proposal).
- Work Space Plan – Detail materials and processes to be used.
- Artist’s/Creative Statement – Max 500 words.
- Image/Media List – Up to 6 JPG images (max 1MB each), including title, media, and year.
- Video Links (optional) – Submitted in a single PDF with hyperlinked URLs (include passwords if required). Do not attach video files directly.
Selection Process
- A selection committee will review all applications and make recommendations based solely on submitted materials.
- All applicants will be notified by 8 December 2025.
