From Deise to This

A solo photography exhibition by Ger McCarthy

Friday 22nd August – Thursday 2nd October
D’Lush Cafe, Wexford Arts Centre

‘From Deise To This’ is a photographic exhibition by Ger McCarthy, a passionate visual storyteller who made the move from his native County Waterford to Wexford in 2025. The catalyst for this change was love—Ger met a Wexford woman in 2024, and the connection was strong enough to inspire a new chapter in both life and landscape. This collection captures the quiet wonder and everyday beauty of his first year in Wexford, blending moments of transition with scenes of local life. From misty bridges and golden sunsets to the vibrant charm of Kilmore Quay, Ger’s lens reveals a fresh perspective on familiar places.

Many of the images in this exhibit were taken with a mobile phone, reflecting Ger’s belief that photography is more about vision than equipment. Whether it’s a collie perched proudly on a straw bale, a solitary buttercup glowing in the grass, or a striking portrait of a red-haired young woman, each photo is a testament to Ger’s eye for detail and his connection to his surroundings. This is more than a collection of pictures—it’s a visual love letter to a new home, a new love, and the beauty found in both.

From Deise to This will run in D’Lush Cafe from Friday 22nd August to Thursday 2nd October, 2025.

Wexford Arts Centre is supported by the Arts Council and Wexford County Council.
