Quiet Echoes — New Work by Polly Maher
3rd October – 13th November 2025 at D’Lush Café, Wexford Arts Centre.
Wexford Arts Centre is delighted to present Quiet Echoes, a solo exhibition by visual artist and painter, Polly Maher. Quiet Echoes presents a deeply contemplative body of work in the unique setting of D’Lush Cafe.

Polly Maher’s practice moves between painting and photography, drawing on themes of rural Ireland, domestic spaces, and the subtleties of stillness and sound. Her process is grounded in observation and memory — photographing locations and later translating those impressions into
expressive, oil-based paintings.
“These paintings are often a source of great comfort to me,” Maher explains, “depicting images of a kind of home — rural houses, sheds, yards, objects and workshops. They are so familiar, yet there is an element of foreign-ness… a subtle presence of loss or banality resulting from loss.”
Her works are quiet, reflective pieces that explore presence and absence without direct commentary. The materiality of oil paint — its texture, ability to erode, crack, and mix — plays a central role in conveying this emotional landscape.
Quiet Echoes invites viewers to slow down, notice the familiar, and listen to what is not being said. Exhibition runs during the 74th Wexford Opera Festival 2025 at D’Lush Café, Wexford Arts Centre from 3rd October- 13th November 2025.
