Since his first solo work, produced by legendary composer Philip Glass, the man once dubbed “Ireland's greatest living poet” (Hot Press) has released a string of award-winning albums that showcase his extraordinary range of influences, from trad, jazz and folk to techno and classical.  Resident in Manhattan and Wexford, Pierce returns home for this special intimate concert after playing Carnegie Hall to critical acclaim. Everyone knows a Turner performance is peerless.

Opening Speaker: Eina McHugh, Director – The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children

 

Wexford Arts Centre is proud to host its first exhibition of children’s work entitled How I See the World. The exhibition represents all stages of work, from the early experimental scribbles to the more realistic and sophisticated. The ages of the children whose work is exhibited range from 4 years to 16 years, and each young artist undertook work in response to the theme of How I See the World.

Children’s Open Art Studio

Opening hours: Tues – Sat, 10am – 5.30pm

Pottery Studio: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10am – 5.30pm & Saturdays 2pm – 5.30pm

To coincide with the first exhibition of children’s art entitled How I See the World, Wexford Arts Centre’s upper gallery will function as an art studio for children throughout the summer months.  The studio will have a range of material available to budding artists of all ages.  Parents will be able to partake in the activities or keep an eye on their children whilst relaxing with a refreshment from D’lush Café  in our designated seating areas.

If you are looking for a birthday celebration with a difference, why not book a birthday party at Wexford Arts Centre?  Our parties give children a chance to be creative and explore the galleries in a fun way. The party group will be led in a number of games and a craft activity which you choose when booking. Materials are provided and children can take home what they make. Healthy food will be provided by D’Lush Café consisting of scrumptious homemade pancakes with a selection of cakes.

The school gallery programme aims to introduce teachers and students to ideas, processes and materials used in contemporary visual arts practice.  We offer guided tours and artist led workshops that are tailored to suit children of all ages, from early years to adolescents.  Held in the galleries, workshops focus on the work of exhibiting artist using observation, discussion and a variety of practical and artistic techniques.
