A Celebration of Song: Wexford Chamber Choir Presents ‘Musica’

Let the stirring harmonies of the Wexford Chamber Choir awaken your spirit with Musica – an evening dedicated to the rich tapestry of vocal harmony. Taking place on Friday May 16th, this concert will captivate your heart, with a variety of early music to contemporary masterpieces. Expect to be moved by the ethereal sounds of Tallis and Palestrina, which is as engaging today as it was during the Renaissance. Journey through the soul-stirring sacred music of Duruflé and Rachmaninoff, before encountering the modern compositions of Lauridsen and Whitacre. Founded in 2015, Markéta Malcova, a former member of the prestigious Prague Chamber Choir and an accomplished opera producer and singing teacher, joined forces with composer and musician Nick Day to create a choir that embraces artistic excellence and musical diversity. This concert also marks an exciting new chapter for the choir under the leadership of Simóne Louw. Originally from Pretoria, South Africa, holds a BMus Degree from the University of Pretoria where she specialised in choral conducting and singing. Her career has been marked by a commitment to artistic excellence, having been involved with the internationally acclaimed UP Camerata choir and in award-winning children's choirs and adult choral ensembles in Pretoria, including Horizons Project Choir and The Chamber Singers. Since arriving in Ireland in early 2024, she has seamlessly stepped into her role as the musical director of both the Wexford International Choir and more recently, Wexford Chamber Choir . Whether you are a devoted choral music enthusiast or discovering its magic for the first time, Musica is a concert not to be missed. Details: Friday May 16th , 7.30pm @The Church of the Assumption, Our Lady’s Island Tickets €15 Wexford Chamber Choir is looking for new members. If you are interested in joining, please email Simóne Louw at: monalaub@gmail.com
