Blanca and
Chuchi (aka Blanca Altable and Chuchiguitarra) are a duo formed in 2009 with a
vision of bringing fresh life to Castilian traditional repertoire through
beauty and creativity. Over the years, they have built an extensive body of
original music, blending the Castilian-rooted tradition with a contemporary
folk sensibility shaped by influences from across the world.
With violin,
vocals and acoustic guitar at its heart, their music has a distinctive and
instantly recognisable sound. It earned them the Spanish INJUVE National
Musical Creation Award in 2010 and has taken them to stages across Africa, Europe
and the United States.
With two
albums already released —Mayo (2011) and Tyto Alba (2016)— and a third,
Universo, released in December 2025, their music draws on popular traditions to
transform and inspire, moving freely into contemporary composition while exploring
new horizons in acoustic music and global folk.
Their live
performances are a joy. Remarkably, their genuine essence remains wholly
intact: at every concert, they invite audiences on a journey of beauty, creativity,
warmth and musical excellence, offering audiences an intimate and distinctive
musical experience.
Throughout
their extensive career, they have featured in the programmes of leading Spanish
folk festivals and venues, performing both as a duo and as a quartet alongside
international folk figures such as Jaime Muñoz on winds and Natalie Haas on
cello.
