Suitable for age 16+
Bryan has spent his working life in England. He met Aoibhinn
‘fortuitously’ at his parents’ silver anniversary at their home in County
Meath, where he was born and raised, and the rest was to be history.
His work had brought him jet-setting around the World as it
had his father before him, and generations right back to the days when the only
way to get from Surrey to Fifth Avenue was by Cunard.
Aoibhinn was the very opposite of Bryan – opposites attract?
Loosely speaking she was an ‘MCA’ (middle-class activist). She contributed
articles to magazines and circulars, bannered the streets and held weekend
gatherings at their sprawling country home.
While Bryan whole-heartedly supported Aoibhinn’s work and
lifestyle, he could never really relate to the comings and goings, and in
truth, at the root of it, felt it was all a bit futile.
The World had changed dramatically during the course of his
career, which was at the point where any sense of achievement was far
out-weighed by a sense of his own futility.
He had toyed with the idea of letting go for a while when an
old college friend called in to him one Sunday morning. They had not encountered
each other since graduation. It was the turning point in Bryan’s life.
‘Journey into an Interior’ finds Bryan in his New World,
living within nature, and a disparate collection of like-minded individuals, in
the heart of the Amazon Rainforest.
A Riff Raff Theatre Premiere.
