The Wexford Arts Centre in association with The Collective Sensory Group, Bluebird Care, and The Creative Hub is proud to present a body of work created by the students at the A.D.H.D Life Hackers Summer workshop facilitated by the Collective sensory group and led by visual artists Deirdre Buggy and Sonya Weston on display from 20 th September – 7 th October 2019 at D’lush Cafe & The Creative Hub Studios.

This workshop allowed participating children to explore the medium of photography through stop-motion filming, image transfer techniques, street/urban photography, and facilitated the use of digital cameras, drawing with light and engaged in understanding composition.

The Expedition: a journey undertaken by a group of people with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration.

This Exhibition showcases the final works of Seán, Izzy, Clare, Fiadh and Willow. Through their eyes we get to see Wexford from a different perspective. In these series of images there is a recurring theme of nature in an urban setting with photographic evidence of entropy at work in the back streets of the town.

In other photographs we see the streets and shops from a child’s point of view, with vibrant window displays catching their curious eyes, and they play upon shadow and light with their stunning black and white images. The drawing with light sparked creative scenes of superheroes, lightsabre battles, abstract mark making and ghostly figures.
The stop-motion film on display is a joint group effort where multiple stories combine with a mesh of characters on a journey through portals, making new friendships and fighting monsters with hints of slapstick comedy and non-sensical, surreal scenes.

We hope you take the time to enjoy this wonderful exhibition by our A.D.H.D Life hackers. Artists; Deirdre and Sonya would like to offer huge congratulations to all the participating young artists.

This exhibition is showing in two locations, D’lush Cafeé and studio no 5 at the Creative Hub running from September 20 th – October 7 th .
