HeART of Gaza Exhibition

July 28, 2025 by Wexford Arts Centre

HeART of Gaza

A showcase of artwork made by Palestinian children.

18 July – 13 August 2025
Dr. Billy Colfer Gallery & Mezzanine, Wexford Arts Centre

A showcase of artwork made by Palestinian children, platforming their voices through art and exchange. The exhibition is run in association with the Rí Rá Festival of Children’s Arts, and can be viewed in the Dr. Billy Colfer Gallery and the Mezzanine until Wednesday 13th August 2025.

Showcasing artworks by Palestinian children aged 3 – 17, HeART of Gaza gives a platform to their voices through art. They ask us to bear witness to their weariness, fear and loss, but also to their resilience and determination as they continue to embrace childhood, celebrating friendship, family, hobbies, pets, and birthday cake. Viewers are invited to make art in response to be sent back to Gaza, transcending borders and language, confirming to the children that we see them and we stand with them. All materials will be provided.

What started as a WhatsApp exchange of children’s art between friends Féile Butler in Sligo and Mohammed Timraz in central Gaza, has grown into the project HeART of Gaza. Via social media, the project quickly captured the imagination of solidarity groups around the world. There have been over 120 collaborative exhibitions to date, from Chicago to London, from Berlin to Rome.

Join artist Féigh Ní Chléirigh and companions for a very special children’s art workshop at the HeART of Gaza exhibition this Fleadh Ceoil. The HeART of Gaza is a touring exhibition of children’s art directly from Gaza that has been shown all over the world.

At the workshops the children can make art to inspire the children of Gaza in a show of solidarity between Ireland and Palestine. All of the art is scanned and sent back to the children in Gaza to encourage and support them.

Donations are accepted to support those running the HeART of Gaza workshops taking place with the children in Gaza.

These are family workshops and children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. They are free of charge but places are limited so booking is essential. .

The exhibition will run in the Dr. Billy Colfer Gallery and the Mezzanine until Wednesday 13th August 2025.

Visitors are encouraged to drop in and view the artworks throughout the upcoming Fleadh Cheoil 2025.

Please be advised that children may need to be guided through the exhibition with parents/guardians due to the strong content of a number of the artworks.

For further information on the exhibition please contact Féile Butler at feile@heartofgaza.com.
