with artist David Begley

Adult Workshop
Saturday 16th May 2020, 2pm.
Duration: 40 minutes.

Watch part 1
watch part 2

In this online workshop via Zoom, David will share his knowledge of making and drawing with charcoal. He will demonstrate how to prepare wood such as driftwood, willow, bramble and ivy in order to bake your own charcoal and will also demonstrate charcoal drawing techniques for tone and line, combining these with feather, chamois and rubbers to erase and draw in light. David will also discuss the use of different papers and how to fix your drawings. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.

David Begley has presented his animations, drawings, paintings and prints at galleries and festivals in Australia, China, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, USA and The UK. He has facilitated arts education projects for all ages for over 20 years.

David’s solo exhibition of drawings and animations ‘Breathe’ at The Linenhall Arts Centre and Wexford Arts Centre was reviewed by John P O’Sullivan for The Sunday Times. David has been awarded residencies at The RHA, The Tyrone Guthrie Centre and Cill Rialaig. His work can be found in the collections of The Contemporary Irish Art Society, The EPA, OPW, INTO and Wexford County Council.
