Vision – SETU BA Hons. Degree Show

South East Technological University
B.A. (Hons) in Art – Exhibition
Friday 16th May – Wednesday 4th June 2025

Exhibition Opening: Thursday 15th May at 6pm

South East Technological University, in partnership with Wexford Arts Centre, is pleased to present the annual BA (Hons) in Art Graduate show titled Vision. The exhibition officially opens at 6pm on Thursday, the 15th of May, at Wexford Arts Centre.  All are welcome to attend.

VISION presents the work of nine BA (Hons) students from the Arts Campus of South East Technological University (SETU), Wexford.  The exhibition, produced individually and collectively over the past four years, features work by Anna Bekmansurova, Susan Birney-Gossage, Trish Cavanagh, Joe Doyle, Alicia Fortune, Sadhbh McCarthy McCool, Cody McEvoy, JP Sexton, and Iris Segaline. It is significant as it marks the start of each student’s professional career, showcasing and celebrating their practices while simultaneously culminating in a shared experience of creative growth and development.

This exhibition explores aspects of personal and collective identity through diverse artistic mediums. Themes of memory, trauma, gender, and cultural identity emerge. Each artist examines these themes in different ways, whether through intimate self-expression, societal critique, or the evocation of shared human experiences.

The works reflect a range of emotional responses, from nostalgia and loss to empowerment and resilience, with an emphasis on the fluidity and complexity of identity and memory in a modern, often tumultuous, world.  As noted by Course Director Brian Garvey “The work on show is both an exhibition and examination process, so you, the visitor, have a unique insight into the students’ creative skill, learning and critical reflection.”

The Arts Campus at South East Technological University delivers an inquiring and testing space for students to learn, create, and develop over four years. This learning and progressive testing of creativity has been integral to students who are seeking to reflect, engage, and represent our cultural understanding of societal experiences.

Vision will run at the Wexford Arts Centre in the lower and upper galleries from Friday, 16th May. We are delighted to host the graduate exhibition once again and look forward to welcoming members of the community to our galleries.

Wexford Arts Centre’s opening hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10am–5pm, and Saturday, 10am–4pm.
